Topcut Rhodes Grass

Topcut Rhodes Grass is a new cultivar bred primarily for improved dry matter yield.

Ideal for Grazing

Topcut Rhodes grass is a leafy, extremely fine stemmed, early flowering diploid cultivar with improved dry matter production. It is a summer growing grass which spreads rapidly to form a dense mat giving quick ground cover on bare soil. The creeping habit helps bind bare soil together and combat soil erosion.  Finecut Rhodes Grass is adapted to a wide range of soils from sandy soils to heavy texture soils. Topcut is more erect and not as fine as Finecut but is still substantially finer than existing Rhodes grass cultivars.

Why select Topcut?

  • Topcut Rhodes grass produces a greater body of fine leafy feed than Pioneer or Callide
  • Topcut Rhodes grass produced up to 21% more dry matter than commercial Pioneer types
  • Topcut Rhodes grass produced up to 11% more dry matter than Callide
  • High salt tolerance
  • Uniform maturity making Topcut ideal for hay production
  • Consistent quality traits through quality seed maintained by Selected Seeds seed production process

Average rainfall requirements

  • 600-1200mm
